The Lowry track team had a meet that took place in Fernley Friday April 14. The meet results are evidence of the hard work and teamwork the athletes have put in so far. Each athlete of the track team showed a lot of improvement and progress.
The Lowry girls ran their first relay race during the meet and did very well. The members of the team were Julianna Gonzalez, Adia Bengochea, Shelby Garrison and Hailey Hinkley, who filled in for Hailey Fernandez. The girls first took place in the 4x100 relay and second in the 4x200 relay.
Senior Shelby Garrison was impressed with how her team did in the relay.
“I think that for our first time running it, we did good. Our handoffs were all smooth for the most part,” said Garrison.
The relay team is planning on better improvement throughout the track season.
“I think we will improve more on are handoffs with a little more practice, added Garrison.
The Lowry track girls also did very well in the throwing category as well. Rachel Garrison took first place in discuss in Fernley out of 34 girls.
The Lowry track team also had a meet Saturday April 15, in McQueen.
