Lowry’s 2017 prom held at the Winnemucca Convention Center had a lot of prep and time to be dedicated to making the event possible. In addition to the junior class advisor, many other people and local businesses donated time and resources to make the event successful.
Mrs. Alexis Mattson expressed her gratitude and her sincerity for all the individuals and businesses to make the event happen.
“I would personally like to thank all of the staff of the Winnemucca Convention Center Visitors Authority (WCVA), Winners Inn, and Humboldt County School District employees,” said Mattson.
The Lowry High School Junior Class Officers also acknowledged businesses mentioned of Winnemucca and the people who work at these businesses and the school district. The Humboldt County School District employees were Dustin Christean, Chukuma Jones, James and Gabrielle Simonsen, Kelly Ross, Jerry Oliver, Andrew Dickson, Sylvia Covarrubias, Cheryl Aitken, Rene and Jayna Hill, Nicole Donaldson, Lindsey Galarza, Roxanne Hardy, Alicia and Brian Prokasky, Lisa Scott, Heather Corak, and Shane Kole Mattson.
The Winners Inn donated all of the food for the event. Mattson expressed her thanks with much promise to Winners Inn for the food donated and the variety of the food.
“When I say graciously, I truly mean graciously. The menu that they prepared was exceptional.” said Mattson. The food ranged from meat and cheese trays, fruit and vegetable trays, hamburger sliders, potstickers, chicken kabobs, slushies and three chocolate fountains for strawberries and s’mores making. The Winners Inn staffed the event making sure the students had enough food for the entire night and also donated the room that the DJ stayed in for the event.
Throughout the years’ prom has been held at the East Hall of the Convention Center as Mattson and Lowry wants to keep prom at the Convention Center.
“We hope to continue to have the event there in the future,” said Mattson. The hall had given up for an entire week for decorating for the event, the event itself, and event clean up. The staff at WCVA are at our beck and call, they get us anything and everything we need to help with decorating the hall, tables, chairs, curtains, table clothes, vacuums, mops and not to mention help with the lights at the event. The staff does this with a spring in their step and a smile on their faces.
The Junior Class officers are Sylvie Prokasky (President), Victor Rosas (Vice President), Mardi Johnson (Secretary/Treasurer) and Alexis Mattson (Jr. Class Advisor).
The Winners Inn employees are Brian Stone (General Manager), Samantha Lockett (Restaurant Manager/ Executive Chef), Everett “DUB” Chase (Cook), Zachary Abdelsalam (Sous Chef), Jazmin O’Neil (Winners Volunteer), along with the employees of WCVA, Johnny Alcarez, Sylvia Bautista and Veronica Munoz.
